us
We plan to carry out this
Mission and these values
during the next five years in the following ways:
Worship &
Music
Worship at Arvada Presbyterian
Church seeks to be Christ-centered and stays close the Biblical text while
being responsive to current events in the world and the life of our congregation.
These services take place on various weekdays as well as on Sunday
and each service has its distinctive approach to style and music.
Seeking
to live the love of Christ, all the music groups in the church support
and encourage one another in their various ministries, to work together
to share Christ in the community and to enhance all the services.
We will increase the use
of various visual and performing arts.
In order to make these possible, we will continue to hire musicians,
purchase musical instruments, upgrade our sound system, lighting systems
and visual projection system as needed. To
enhance the worship experience, our building, from the front doors through
the sanctuary, will be evaluated and adjusted so it is welcoming, and
our members will be encouraged to express hospitality.
Educational Ministries
We acknowledge APC as our spiritual
community, therefore we will pray thoughtfully in order to make decisions
and expand our vision to deliver the message of the Gospel in new ways.
By teaching Christian
basics and mutual accountability and utilizing new resources and ideas
in our Christian Education programs, we intend to connect everyone to
Jesus Christ, to one another and to APC.
In Youth ministry, we will seek to provide older elementary, middle school
and senior high students meaningful opportunities for spiritual development,
social interaction and service to humnity. Membership
We
will implement a process to help members and visitors become connected into
relationships, activities and ministries of the church—exploring spiritual
gifts, talents and skills, passions and a sense of call where they feel
empowered for Christ. Responding
to people’s sense of call, activities and ministries will be added or
changed throughout APC.
By
working with existing and new groups and programs in the church, we will
implement a Christ-centered marketing plan for the church.
Being a welcoming
and Christ-centered church, we will provided ongoing communications and/or
education to our members regarding hospitality and evangelism, so that
we are equipped and encouraged to reach out to all with the good news
of the gospel of Jesus Christ.
Mission
and Peacemaking
Recognizing
that there are various ways to serve Christ, APC will provide mission
and peacemaking opportunities, including intergenerational, for people
of varying ages and abilities.
Mission and peacemaking activities
at APC will be embraced physically, financially and prayerfully by the
majority of the congregation.
Mission
and peacemaking efforts will focus on the following areas:
- Sharing food with the hungry,
- Providing
shelter for those without homes,
- Securing
clothing for the needy,
- Providing
for the special needs of children and youth,
- Sharing
the love of Christ through outreach and teaching
APC mission and peacemaking will
include projects at church, in our neighborhoods and communities, the
Denver
metro area, within our state, within the
United States of America and
around the world.
We recognize
that we area a community, growing in our understanding of the meaning
of “peacemaking,” and over the next five years, we will seek to learn,
experience and proclaim the peace of Christ as the Lord leads us.
As Christ
has washed our feet, we pause to wash the feet of others; by the love
and grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, APC mission and peacemaking will be
a blessing to the congregation and to those helped by willing and loving
hands.
Administration & Support
We will have
a growth in financial resources to support the current and new activities
and programs by increased memberships, worship attendance, stewardship
education and multiplying the possible streams of income beyond the annual
pledge campaign.
We
will insure the routine maintenance and necessary upgrading of the building,
grounds and equipment. All
upgrades will be evaluated in relationship to the master plan.
Personnel Ministry Team
We will provide
nurture and support for the entire staff.
We will align job descriptions and adjust staff to appropriately
carry out the new vision, continuing to recommend salaries, support an
evaluation process and hire staff as necessary.
We will continue providing Session with an orderly process to fulfill
its responsibilities to staff.
The
Board of Deacons
By God’s grace, we will demonstrate
sympathy, witness and service after the example of Jesus Christ to the congregation
and the community. We will serve
Jesus Christ through the following:
|
Provide
meals for families in crisis
Honor members of the
congregation with receptions
Enable homebound members
of the church to receive Sunday Services |
By
God’s grace,
we will
demonstrate sympathy, witness
and service after the example of Jesus Christ |
|
Support
members of the community through the Stephen Ministry, visitation,
and the Caring Card programs
Share the Lord's Table
with our homebound through Extended Home Communion
