Membership
Ministry
Spreading the Good News of ChristThe Membership Ministry is devoted to sharing the joy of Christ with both APC members and those outside the church. It participates in several outreach activities designed to help increase the size, vitality and diversity of the APC congregation. Members are encouraged to suggest ideas to increase church membership through this ministry. New
Member Process APC
welcomes new members and makes it both easy and fast for more people to
join the church. Those wishing to join APC are invited to do so immediately
after each service by talking with two elders and the pastor about their
intent. New members are accepted after completing paperwork and vows. New
Member Orientation New
members learn what it means to be a Presbyterian and about APC’s structure
by participating in New Member Orientation Classes held on five consecutive
Sundays during the church school hour. This optional series includes video
lessons and print materials accompanied by discussion with APC staff.
Cookie
Hospitality During
worship, first-time visitors sign a card which is attached to a carnation
they receive. After the service, the Cookie
Messenger Team delivers a plate of home-baked cookies to their homes,
along with APC information and a copy of Glad
Tidings. Cookie bakers keep the church freezer stocked – but more
bakers and messengers are always needed! Attendance Cards and /Calls Attendance
cards (also known as fellowship pads) are used to track member and visitor
presence at church services. If a member has been absent for four
consecutive weeks, he or she receives a postcard letting them know they
have been missed. A concerned phone call is made to members who are absent
for six consecutive weeks to find out
how the church may support them if needed. ALPHA
